About Lost Draw Cellars
The roots of Lost Draw Cellars spread deep into Fredericksburg and as wide as the Texas High Plains. Before it was a place flowing with wine and filled with laughter and good cheer, the property that is Lost Draw Cellars was a Gulf Distribution hub. Starting in 1936, the Gulf Distribution business would stay family-owned for four generations in Fredericksburg with Troy Ottmers taking the helm in 1987 and would stay that way until Troy sold the business in 2009, but kept the land. During that time in the Texas High Plains, Andy Timmons decided to diversify his farming operations to include grape growing at the original Lost Draw Vineyards site. His nephew, Andrew Sides, worked for the family farming operation and helped to expand from 5 acres to over 50 acres. Andrew Sides would go to Texas Tech to study engineering, but his passion for grape growing never faded. Soon after graduation, Andrew would get engaged to Callie Ottmers. Callie's father Troy Ottmers had historic land in downtown Fredericksburg. Andrew and Andy had grapes that needed to be turned into wine. Everything came together and Lost Draw Cellars produced its first vintage in 2012 and opened its tasting room doors for the first time in 2014. Fast forward to 2020, Andrew Sides and longtime friend and business partner in other endeavors, Chris Brundrett, decided that based on their shared vision for the future of Texas wine and shared values for what really matters when leading a company and an industry, to merge their businesses. William Chris Wine Company was founded by Andrew and Chris in October 2020 and today Lost Draw Cellars remains a flagship brand in the WCWC lineup.
