About Henly Vineyards

Winemaking history in Texas dates back to the early Spanish missionaries. This is our story of how we became a part of that history. Since 1986 Sam and Beverly Hadaway enjoyed spending time at their No Rules Ranch west of Dripping Springs, Texas. Over the years entertaining friends and family with good food and wine became a tradition. More often than not the menu included produce grown on the ranch. Gardening activities was one of many ways they worked toward their goal of improving and providing stewardship of the land. With the decision to make the ranch their permanent home planting a vineyard to produce wine for the gatherings seemed a natural next step. Henly Vineyards was formed in 2012. In early spring of 2013 friends and family helped with the Madrona vineyard planting. Encouraged by its success, cultivation expanded to the Live Oak vineyard in 2014. Both vineyards enjoy near-constant breezes from their hillside elevations. That same year a small facility for producing wine was built. By 2018 the smallest winery in Texas had outgrown its home. The expansion, completed in early 2019 doubled the size of the winery which is still the smallest in Texas. A small winery to produce quality boutique wines paired perfectly with their enjoyment of entertaining and offered the opportunity to share the bounty with a wider audience. The proprietors’ interest in handcrafted wines is reflected in each bottle they produce. From the planting, tending, harvesting, fermentation and bottling, Sam and Beverly are part of every step.
